The Husayn Day "Peace" Walk, as seen in the Youtube video, is a yearly event organized by the Shia Association of Bay Area (Saba Islamic Center of San Jose, CA) and the Fatimiyya Islamic Center of Hayward, CA. Saba has been organizing Peace Walks since 2007. The event usually takes place at the San Jose City Hall Plaza, but in 2011, Saba and company opted to hold the Walk at the Frank Ogawa Plaza in downtown Oakland. The Peace Walk is held every 12 lunar months, during the first weekend in the Arabic month Muharram al-Haram.
Islam means peace, purity and submission. Imam Husayn sacrificed his own life and the lives of his companions and family to preserve the message of Islam. The day invites people to join a peace walk to commemorate the sacrifice of Imam Husayn in the name of PEACE.

These pictures are the blueprints of the new building purchased by the Fatimiyya Islamic Center and the renovations that are currently underway. This building has already been purchased with a loan, but the mosque desperately needs donations for the renovations. The building is on Mission Boulevard, a few blocks from its current location, towards Hayward. There is a huge parking lot just for the mosque plus a separate smaller building not shown in the diagrams. Also, not pictures in the diagram, is a blocked-off open top area in the back that can be used for a children’s playground area.
The mosque is expanding to accommodate the growing number of youth members. The Imam's vision is to convert a portion of the mosque space into a madrasa, to further educate the youth members. The Fatimiyya Islamic Center places a central importance on education.

Below is a flyer for the Qira'at class teaching male members of the mosque to recite the Qur'an. Held in the mosque every Wednesday, this class is just one component of the center's wider educational program which includes Qur'anic exegsis, Qur'anic Arabic classes, and weekly lectures in both Farsi and English.
Additionally the center hosts family gatherings and community activities including weekly soccer games in order to facilitate member bonding and promote the mosque.
